Although I am Korean, I have a huge interest on Japanese culture. In fact, if someone asks me which country I want to live in, I would pick Japan over Korea. However, it would be a lot better if the two countries would get along well. Throughout the years, Japan and Korea have developed very bitter relationships. Ever since Japan’s colonialism has ended on Korea, Korean people began to hate the Japanese and they would even say to their descendants that the Japanese people are evil. Today, this still goes on. One time, while I was in the subway, I was reading manga written in Japanese (I can read a little). When some old person sat close to me, he started to criticize me for being a Japanese person. He criticized me again for supporting Japan, after accepting the fact that I am Korean. My beef here is the bitter relationships between Korea and Japan. I respect the culture of these two countries but with the bitter relationships, it’s sometimes hard for me to choose which side I’m on. I like Japan, but as a Korean, I must have a hostile view of Japan.
